Spring was definitely in the air for both learners and educators at a local school, as they warmly welcomed the fresh air and the blossoming of plants in their school garden, this past Friday, Sept 3.
Led by their inspirational and dynamic Principal, Manzoor Alimia, the HOD and educators of the Foundation Phase (Grade R to Grade 3) at Central Islamic School, ensured that the learners of the school experienced the freshness of the new season, outdoors, by having a picnic and enjoying the lovely scrumptious picnic baskets which they brought along and in the spirit of Ubuntu, happily shared with their friends, on the calm slightly warm Spring day. After the yummy meals, each grade had the opportunity to plant their own tree on the school field. There was excitement all around as the learners waited for their turn to take part in the planting of their respective trees on behalf of their grades.
Apa Farhana Hassim, the HOD of the Foundation Phase at the school told the Laudium Sun, “InshAllah the trees will grow magnificently and it will remain a memory for the learners of the 2021 school year, as they proceed further in their schooling career. They will hopeful even one day show the generations to come, how big the once small trees they had planted, years back, has grown.” Principal Alimia said, “It’s important that we teach our learners from a young age to preserve and appreciate the natural environment.”
