Dear residents of Ward 61.
I am overwhelmed by the support shown to me, and the resounding results of the local elections held on Monday, speak for themselves. Winning by almost 1500 votes really sends out a message of the Confidence and Trust that you have placed in me. I want to assure you that I will work to the best of my ability and with dedication, to serve you. Let me make it clear that although I was nominated by the ANC, I will be a Councillor for ALL the residents in my Ward, regardless of your religion or political affiliation. Whether you voted for me or NOT, I am here to serve YOU. I am repeatedly reminded that I have big shoes to fill. I agree wholeheartedly with that sentiment. Former Councillor Essop has set high standards, but I am ready to take up the challenge, more so as he has pledged to support me. I want to extend my gratitude, firstly to the Almighty, then to my campaign team, the “Dream Team” led by Yunus Essop (the General) who executed my election campaign with military precision. A special thank you to ALL those who assisted during my campaign, the ANC members, those who put their trust in me by voting for me and not forgetting my family for their unwavering support.
