RAMADAAN MESSAGE TO THE SOUTH AFRICAN MUSLIM COMMUNITY
As-salāmu ʿalaykum wa-raḥmatu-llāhi wa-barakātuhū,
Dear Muslim brothers and sisters,
“It is a great pleasure for all of us to welcome the holy month of Ramadaan with a heart filled with peace, harmony and joy, even during this difficult time of pandemic.
On behalf of my country, Kazakhstan, and its people, as well as all the nations of my native region, Central Asia, I would like to pray for all of us and cordially wish that the great blessings of Allah (S.W.T.) protect and guide you during and after this Holy Month, the Sultan of all months.
May the Favour, Protection and Power of the Almighty, the Most Gracious, the Most Merciful, flash in your hearts always, and lead you to walk through your whole life in peace and harmony, until you develop real guidance in both worlds.

Moulana Abubakr Chougly, The Garden Social Services Pretoria,
“Peace and Blessings. As we embark on this month of reflection, may we realise the goodness we have within ourselves. Let us search the inspiration of reaching out to the needy. On the same note, let us also reach out to the energy of forgiveness. May these auspicious days of Ramadaan be a spark of connecting to the best of our actions and doings. Blessings and Duas”

Rafiq Mukadam, Principal of Al-Asr School
“Ramadaan is the month in which the Quran was revealed. It is also the month of fasting. We hope and pray that during this month the Quran is read, understood and most importantly, practiced upon. We take this opportunity in wishing all a blessed, peaceful and united Ramadaan. ‘Ramadaan is the month in which was sent down the Quran as a guide to mankind, also clear signs for guidance and judgement’ Quran 2:185.”

Moulana Enver Khan, PMT Sunni School,
“On behalf of PMT SS, we would like to take this opportunity of wishing all Muslims a happy, healthy and prosperous Ramadaan. ‘Oh you who believe, fasting has been prescribed upon you like it has been prescribed upon those before you, so that you may gain piety’ -Quran. May Allah accept all our efforts during this blessed month and grant us the ability to gain his closeness and Rahmat.”

Sarfaraz Rehmat, Darul Uloom senior teacher,
“Bismillah – My message to the Muslim community concerning Ramadaan, is this Ramadaan is different than the previous Ramadaan, because, many of our family members have left this world and gone to God Almighty, and many of our family members are ill or in the hospital and are suffering because of this pandemic. My request to everyone this Ramadaan, is that we need to work harder than the previous ones and we have to pray more and more, and more sincerely and plead with Allah to remove the pandemic from the whole of humanity. May God guide us and bless us all.”

Aalia Wajar (Head girl at PMT)
“As yet another month of Ramadaan dawns upon us, we should strive to walk humbly, talk politely, dress neatly, treat kindly, pray attentively and donate generously. Wishing you and your family a blessed Ramadaan. May this month bring you peace, happiness and growth.”

Muneerah Muzaffar Ukaye, Al-Asr School
“Assalamu alaikum to all. As you know the month of Ramadaan is approaching us, I would like to wish all Muslims a blessed and peaceful Ramadaan.”

Muhammad Reza Ebrahim, Al-Ghazali Principal,
“As the month of Ramadaan approaches, the feeling of closeness to the Divine envelopes us. Ramadaan is a welcoming period, to soothe the stress, anxiety and uncertainty that has visited our communities. We look forward to this highly spiritual month in which we take refuge, to gather strength, love and compassion. Wishing all the board members, staff, parents and learners a blessed Ramadaan.”

Manzoor Alimia, Central Islamic School, Principal,
“We have been through a difficult period, since last year, where we were not able to observe Ramadaan in a proper sense. The atmosphere completely changed last year, as a result of the Covid-19 pandemic.
Hopefully, this year things will change. However, we must not take anything for granted, thinking the worst is behind us. We must continue to take precautions: social distance, wear masks and sanitise. Wishing everybody a blessed, spiritual month of fasting.”

Hafeez Intekaab Patel – Imam of Masjid al Haqq (Entrance of Laudium, Pretoria).
“In the Name of Allah, Most Gracious, Most Merciful.
May Peace and Blessings be upon Nabi Muhammad (SAW), his family, companions and the entire Ummah.
May Allah (SWT) forgive our shortcomings and guide us on the straight path.
In this Blessed month of Ramadaan, may our Creator and Sustainer protect the entire humanity from any form of calamities.
We have come from an exceedingly difficult journey where the whole world was placed under a lockdown that claimed a lot of lives. We pray that He forgives those who succumbed to diseases, grants them a peaceful abode in the hereafter and may He give peace to their families.
May the Almighty give us the strength and the ability to serve Him in accordance with the teachings of Nabi Muhammad (SAW).
Let this Holy Month lead to the liberation of the Palestinians and all oppressed people of the world. Inshaa’Allah. Ameen.”

Hassan Rajmahomed, Darul Uloom Pretoria,
“We are entering the month of mercy and blessings, which is the holy month of Ramadaan- a month which brings a servant closer to the Lord through worship and obedience. We request special prayers and duas that Allah remove all difficulties and calamities during this testing time of Covid-19. We urge the Muslim community at large to adhere to all Covid restrictions and protocols during the congregational prayers.”

Sa’d Mohamed (Head boy – at PMT)
Amongst the samoosas and pies, we should always remember it’s a time for reflection and spiritual improvement. We should use this month to ask from the never ending treasures of Allah. On behalf of the matrics of 2021 and the Pretoria Muslim Trust Sunni School, I would like to wish you all a blessed Ramadaan and humbly request that you remember us in your duas.”
