· Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Eersterust and we moved to Laudium in 1961. I started at Andrew Anthony Primary School and then went to Laudium High.
· Tell us a little about your family.
I’m blessed with five children, and eight grandchildren. I’m divorced.
· Tell us about your sporting career history.
I started playing soccer in 1964, at Jaffer Stadium. I played for a team called ‘Ghost Town Aces’. Then, when they opened the new stadium, I joined Delfos FC in 1972. From there, we opened a new team, Royal Hearts FC in 1982, until I retired playing in the field and became an official of the team.
· How many years in the sporting field?
±15 years.
· For our readers, please tell us what attracted you to this sport?
The love of the game. We had nothing to do but play soccer on our streets.
· What was your favourite victory and proudest moment?
When we won the under 18 League with Delfos FC.
· How did you develop your skill?
By playing in the streets with a tennis ball. This built my skill, accuracy and ball control.
· Who is your greatest inspiration?
My father (Koorvie) and my uncle Sandra Pillay.
· What would you like the youth to take from your passion for the sports?
To follow their own passion and to focus.
· What has this sport taught you off the field?
Be disciplined, respectful to people and help others.
· What message would you like to give to our readers?
The youth of today have to carry on with our legacy in sport and show how skilful we are as the community of Laudium.
