· Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Laudium and went to Andrew Anthony Primary, Laudium Primary, and Laudium Secondary. I am self-employed and I am a Liverpool fan.
· Tell us a little about your family.
I’m married to Cynthia and we are blessed with four children; Shoneez, Showen, Chardane’ and Kleavano. We also have four grandchildren.
·Tell us about your sporting career history.
I started playing for Pretorians under 12, Tottenham Hot Spurs under 16 and Ramblers FC. Thereafter, I joined Royal Hearts FC, where I played for several years until I retired. With Royal Hearts FC, we played in the Castle League for about three years.
·How many years in the sporting field?
More than 20 years.
· For our readers, please tell us what attracted you to this sport?
I used to watch Liverpool and Everton, that’s where I developed an interest in soccer by watching great players like John Aldridge and Ian Rush, and many other great players.
·What was your favourite victory and proudest moment?
I have two greatest moments; when Royal Hearts beat Rafficks 1-0 in the Essop Cup final and when we won the Ummah Cup, beating Swaraj FC 3-0. I scored the second goal.
· How did you develop your skill?
By playing street football. We used to play at an open space in the cemetery for money.
· Who is your greatest inspiration?
Maradona.
· What would you like the youth to take from your passion for the sports?
I would like the youth to stay away from drugs, be dedicated to sports, work hard, have discipline, respect, and confidence in yourself. Always be humble and don’t forget where you come from.
· What has this sport taught you off the field?
To be friendly, respect people and know a lot of people.
· What message would you like to give to our readers?
Encourage your children to get active in sport, no matter what sport it is. Also, to complete their schooling career.
