Covid-19 – End of a love story as Choppee bids his beloved Shazia a final farewell
Tears are still flowing, as the community of Laudium and beyond, together with family and friends, continue to reel in shock, after the tragic passing of the much admired and graceful yet humble, Shazia Essa Suliman (47), who breathed her last, this past Sunday, April 4. Shazia, the beloved wife of Yusuf Essa (Choppee), succumbed due to comorbidities, a few weeks after contracting Covid-19. Known as the modern ‘Romeo and Juliet’, Shazia and Yusuf were inseparable and were always seen together, with charming smiles, radiating positive energy. The mesmerizing couple was a model of love, to both young and old and left a mark of affection, on whomever they met. The couple could not be imagined, one without the other and whilst being two separate individuals, Shazia and Choppee were indeed a magnet of love for each other. But, as fate would have it, the Almighty had other plans for Shazia, and called her back home, sooner than expected. * Choppee, although we can never imagine the depth of your grief, the Laudium Sun, together with our readers, conveys sincerest condolences to you and your family. Ramadaan Mubarak
Muslims will observe the fasting month of Ramadaan, from Tuesday evening (April 13), subject to the sighting of the new moon. Ramadaan, the ninth month on the Islamic calendar, is regarded as a blessed month, during which devotees abstain from eating or drinking any liquids, from about an hour before sunrise, until sunset. Prophet Muhammad (PBUH) said, Allah said, ‘Every good deed of the son of Adam is for him, except for fasting which is for Me and I shall reward (the fasting person) for it. Verily, the smell of the mouth of a fasting person is better to Allah than the smell of musk.’ (Sahih Bukhari). The Laudium Sun wishes all our Muslim readers a spiritually uplifting Ramadaan. Hindu New Year
The Hindi New Year (Nava Varsha) and the Telugu New Year (Ugadi Festival) will be celebrated on Tuesday, April 13, whilst the Tamil New Year (Puthandu), will be celebrated on Wednesday, April 14. Puthandu marks new beginnings and is celebrated to attract new opportunities and to seek growth in the lives of devotees.These auspicious days are regarded as sacred on the Hindu calendar.
