In an effort to play a unifying role and to provide a much needed service to the broader Muslim community of Tshwane, especially those living in the areas of Centurion East/West, the newly formed Management Committee of Sayyidana Alli (RA) Jamaat Khana, has announced that it will be opening its fully fledged ghusal facility to all Muslims, effective from the 1st of Muharram (around August 10). The facility which is on Baard Street 8-2, Raslouw (opposite Celtic Manor), where the present Jamaat Khana is situated, will provide the services of performing ghusal, providing kafan (at no charge) and providing the services of an Imaam for the Janazah Namaaz of the deceased. Facilities for both men and women to read Quraan during the funeral time, will also be provided. Newly appointed chairperson of the committee, Nazeer Adam said, “The next 10 days will be a transitional period and we hope to kick off in full-swing, on the 1st of Muharram. Providing a ghusal service for all, nearer to the surrounding community, has long been overdue. Although we will be having a ghusal team and Imaam on hand, family members of the deceased will have the option to use their own ghusal team or even their own Imaam, to perform the Janazah Namaaz. We will also be engaging with the two main burial committees in the area, the PMT and CMB, whom we hope to work closely with, to advise us on anything else that may be needed at the ghusal facility, before we officially open to all, on the 1st of Muharram. As a completely new and vibrant team, we hope to make a positive difference for the benefit of our community and invite all those wanting to join, as volunteers for the ghusal team, to feel free to contact us. Anyone who conditionally donated any monies or any items to the Jamaat Khana or its related facilities, and who may now have objections to our decision to open the ghusal facility to all Muslims and Muslim Burial Committees, is kindly requested to contact Mahier Tayob of Tayfin at forensic@taygro.co.za, within the next 10 days.”
The other office bearers of the new committee are, Mohamed Razzak Moosa (Secretary) and Shiraz (Chico) Mahomed Ebrahim (treasurer). Rafiq Mohideen, of Raslouw, who, together with Nazeer Adam of Celtic Manor, is heading the ghusal facility, said, “We know of many families from the Raslouw/Eldoglen area, who had to travel late at night to Laudium or Erasmia, to help with the ghusal of a female relative and then drive back all alone, whilst the men went to the graveyard. Travelling on the R55, especially at night is not safe for anyone, especially the women. Besides, it is also so convenient to use the facility in Raslouw, for all those who live in the area”. Shiraz Ebrahim (Chico) said, “Let all of us, in the area, support this initiative of having a common ghusal facility for all Muslims to use.” Nazeer added,”We call on all Muslims living in neighbouring areas, including, Raslouw, Zwartkop, Lyttleton, Heuweloord, Monavoni, Eldoraigne, Wierda Park and all the surrounding areas, including the security estates, to inform the burial committee of your choice, that you want the ghusal of your deceased family member or even the Janazah Salah, to be performed at the Sayyedina Alli (RA) facility in Raslouw”.
