· Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Marabastad. We relocated to Laudium in 1967. I attended Andrew Anthony Primary School and then went to Laudium High School.
· Tell us a little about your family.
I’m married with six children; 4 daughters and 2 sons and I have 10 grandchildren.
·Tell us about your sporting career history.
From the early age of 10, I was playing at primary school. While I was at primary school, the high school team asked me to play for them. I guess my skills were noticed and it started from there. I then joined Rainbow Aces, then I went to Raffick FC and then to Laudium Manchester FC. I was also picked from Laudium to play in the Eastern Transvaal against the Griquas. After that, we opened a new team, Royal Hearts FC and I played there until I retired.
· How many years in the sporting field?
± 20 years.
· For all our readers, please tell us what attracted you to this sport?
Soccer was always my hobby. I was born to be a soccer player and my family was also interested in soccer. Therefore, it was easy to join in.
· What was your favourite victory and proudest moment?
My favourite victory was when we played against Delfos FC. The late Daya Pillay scored two goals during the first half. Then we came back on the second half, when I scored four goals and we won 4-2. And also in another game, where I scored the goal with my hand and the referee didn’t notice.
· How did you develop your skill?
By playing on the streets and also we used to carry poles and go to Jaffer Stadium, and practice there.
· Who is your greatest inspiration?
My father Moonsamy Chetty, my uncle Sandra Pillay, Eddie Naidoo, Bathu Bhana, Vella Pillay and Uncle Tumi.
· What would you like the youth to take from your passion for the sports?
To always be involved in sport. To be focused, have goals and a dream.
· What has this sport taught you off the field?
Be disciplined, be humble and respect everyone, as we need one another.
· What message would you like to give to our readers?
Let the youth enjoy sport, be creative and feel at home when they play.
