Tributes continue to pour in from far and wide, after the shocking news of the sad passing of local resident, Hajee Goolam Moosa Bhidia, who returned to the Almighty, this past Sunday, (July 11). No words can aptly describe the sorrow and pain felt by so many, after hearing of the tragic loss. Goolam Bha, as he was affectionately known, was modest and kind and in his own unassuming way, made massive contributions to those in need, leaving behind an indelible legacy of generosity and integrity. He reflected the best of humanitarianism and his passion for serving and contributing was a beacon of light and a valuable lesson to all, especially his family. He had the extraordinary ability to see only the blessings in his life and had full faith in the divine plan, never questioning the Almighty’s decree. Goolam Bha was also blessed with the excellent quality of keeping family and friendship ties intact, interacting with everyone, both young and old. In the words of a heart-broken niece, “A page has closed on the golden age of the Bhidia family, after the heart-wrenching passing of our Goolam Bha. He was the heart and soul of our family.” One of the many extraordinary things Goolam Bha did, was promoting the reading of Surah Kahf in various Masjids and homes throughout the country, on Thursday nights, freely giving out these kitaabs. He was also known to have sponsored many, to go for Hajj, from muazzins to those who were aged and frail, in many instances even accompanying them. Simply put, Goolam Bha stood out as a person amongst persons, an exceptional human-being. Our community was indeed fortunate to have been blessed with such a special individual, always willing to give of himself. May the Almighty grant his family peace and patience during this very trying time and may He (SWT) fill Goolam Bha’s qabr with Noor and grant him Jannat-ul-Firdous… Ameen.
