’Sun intervenes -both parties now live in style

As businesses are going back to normal operations, after South African President Cyril Ramaphosa placed the country to Level 1 lockdown, there is a definite increase of locals starting to socialize, with restaurants recording a large number of clients especially over weekends and caterers seeing an increase in functions taking place, especially weddings where the number of guests invited are also much more.

However, with the good comes the bad, as more shoppers or clients are complaining about poor services. The Laudium Sun has also been contacted to intervene in some of the complaints.

In one of the latest complains received concerning poor service, a Lenasia resident contacted the Laudium Sun to report his recent experience of alleged poor service received from a business in Sunderland Ridge, Lifestyle Home. Abdul Razak Allana, a resident on Seal Crescent, Lenasia Ext 7, lamented to the Laudium Sun, “I ordered furniture at Lifestyle Home, in Sunderland Ridge, as I was told the place had beautiful furniture. I ordered the furniture that I liked, telephonically and indeed the items were soon delivered as promised but, to my shock and dismay, one of the furniture sets was in bad condition. One of the legs was missing, the colour of the items of the one set were different, and not exactly the same and the quality of the workmanship was very bad. I immediately called their office to return my money and for them to collect the furniture. To my surprise they told me that they had a 50% return policy and would phone me back to make arrangements for the collection of the furniture. I told them that I was not prepared to lose 50% of the money I paid, as it was not my fault that the furniture was in such bad condition. They then promised to fetch the furniture and fix it up, but they never came. Then they gave me a run around for weeks, during which I had not heard anything from them. When I eventually got hold of them, I told them that I’m going to come there, and that I was even willing to drive all the way from Lenasia to Pretoria. They said no, they would bring a new set for me and take the old one back. They promised me… Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday, nothing, and then, they were no longer answering my calls. I tried to phone them several times, but they just did not answer my calls. They do not use landlines, but only cellphones. I found them to have a really bad attitude. All I wanted was for them to return my money or replace the furniture. I was prepared to go and buy these things somewhere else. What they did was wrong. You do not take people’s money and send them rubbish, then refuse to give their money back. It was weeks since we paid our money and nothing had been done. The furniture was wrapped, so we could not immediately see it when they delivered it.

I was getting increasingly frustrated until someone told me that I should call the Laudium Sun to deal with them, as you guys are prepared to help people like us. I really regretted buying from these people.”

When approached by the Laudium Sun, Meshan Arnachellan, the salesperson at LifeStyle Home, said, “Yes, we know of the complaint from Lenasia. We assure you that we will solve this problem by replacing the old furniture with a new set. We apologize for any inconvenience caused.”

* At the time of going to press, Uncle Razak informed the Laudium Sun that his furniture had been replaced and that he is now satisfied, and thanked the Laudium Sun for the intervention.

Abdul Razak claimed that the material of the headboard and other furniture pieces from the same set was not exactly the same.
Seal Crescent, Lenasia Ext 7 resident, Abdul Razak Allana, said that whilst he was regretting buying furniture from Lifestyle Home in Sunderland Ridge, he is now satisfied after the intervention by the Laudium Sun.

Meshan Arnachellan, the salesperson at LifeStyle Home, kept his word after assuring the Laudium Sun that the problem would be resolved
