Commitment and flair for the game were visible last Saturday afternoon in a closely fought battle, between two ladies football teams.
The game took place at the Rosinah Sedibana Sports Grounds, where the two Laudium Football Association affiliates, Modiba Ladies FC and Simon Stars Ladies FC, met at around 1pm to kickoff.
The host (Modiba Ladies FC) took the lead 15 minutes into the game, after their strikers were set up and managed to run the defenders, shoot long range, beat the goalkeeper and put Modiba Ladies FC ahead.
The game became tougher till the second half of the game, where Simon Stars Ladies FC midfielder, Berry, set the striker to equalize through a long range shooting and the goalkeeper was beaten.
Simon Stars Ladies FC continued to take control of the ball possession and added three more goals, to make it 4-1.
The home side tried to come back, but they were denied by goalkeeper Lenecia (Mesh) who was on the top of her game.
Simon Stars Ladies Football Club Head Coach, Simon Chokoe, congratulated the winners of the day, Simon Stars Ladies FC.
“We had a good game and the ladies were fighting hard, especially on the second half.”
He further applauded his team, Simon Stars Ladies FC for their hard work and encouraged them to continue making the Laudium Football Association and communities proud.
“We can use sports as a tool to fight crime within our communities,” he added.
*In separate fixtures: Laudium Promotional League kickoff took place on Sunday at 1:30pm and 3:30pm for the 2021/2022 season. All seniors’ fixtures will be played at the Laudium LFA Sports Grounds.
