The month of September has been designated Heritage Month in South Africa and Himalaya Secondary School participated in an Arts & Culture Heritage Competition at the Ditsong Heritage Site recently.
The competition was held by the Heritage Education Outreach Programme (HESOP) and took place last Saturday (September 10). Himalaya Secondary participated in this competition representing the Tshwane North District with several other schools.
Himalaya had a dynamic team of 4 learners who participated, namely: Samara Arnachallan, Shahana Alam, Jamie Leigh Pillay and Khutso Madiba. Himalaya competed with 20 districts or 20 schools and obtained 4th place winning a trophy and medals for each learner.
“They were in the top 5 and made our school proud, putting Himalaya Secondary School on the map,” said a teacher.
