It was a hot sunny Saturday afternoon recently at the Laudium Stadium, with a good playing surface and a wonderful mood amongst all the players.

Laudium Old Boys (LOB) played Durban Expats on the day, with the game starting at a good pace, as expected of over 50s. Expats played a good passing game in the first quarter and took the lead with a strong flat shot that beat a diving keeper. All the players on both teams had their moments of brilliance. Laudium Old Boys equalised through Imraan Adam’s low shot that beat the keeper. In the third quarter LOB took the lead from a ball that deflected off the bar and was tucked away. From the team talk at Expats, they came out determined to level matters, which they then did with their attacking and passing style of football. In the fourth quarter, energies were low and in the dying minutes Ismail Gani scored for Old Boys to seal a 3 – 2 victory, ending with handshakes all around. Both teams enjoyed a meal at the grandstands followed by arrangements being made for the next match. It was a beautiful end to a beautiful day.
