Muslims throughout the world will celebrate the birth of the Holy Prophet, Muhammad (PBUH), on Saturday evening (October 8 – 12 Rabi-ul Awwal, 1444). Muhammad (PBUH) who was born on a Monday, was most noble and distinguished and influenced the lives of untold many –during his own time and for all time to come. Almighty (SWT) says in the Holy Quraan that Muhammad (PBUH) was sent ‘… as a mercy for humankind… [and] all that exists.’ (Quraan 21 – 107).
In Young India, Mahatma Gandhi wrote, referring to Prophet Muhammad (SAW): “I wanted to know the best of the life of one who holds today an undisputed sway over the hearts of mankind… I became more than ever convinced that it was not the sword that won a place for Islam… it was the rigid simplicity, the utter self-effacement of the Prophet, the scrupulous regard for pledges, his intense devotion to his friends and followers, his intrepidity, his fearlessness, his absolute trust in God and in his own mission.”
