My name is Pravesh Ravjee, better known as Boori. I grew up in the blocks on Mocha Street. I am married to Sumayah Omar and we have 3 children – one son and two daughters. I’m currently employed at Momentum.
· Tell us about your sporting career.
I started playing soccer at the age of 14, for a team called Manchester Colts, which was run by Nassir Jaffer. After this, I played for Swaraj FC. In both teams, I held the position of goalkeeper. I played with Swaraj until life happened and responsibilities took over.
· How many years in the sporting field?
28 years.
· For all our readers, please tell us what attracted you to this sport?
In the area I grew up in, everyone played some sport and we were extremely competitive from playing marbles to flying kites, but mainly soccer.
· What was your favourite victory and proudest moment?
When we established Real Madrid FC in 2001. We were known as the richest/poorest club because we had the best kits but very little liquid cash and everybody was fielded with the same kit from the U7 team all the way to the senior team. Real Madrid had a team in each division.
· How did you develop your skills?
Train, train, train!! Practice, practice, practice!
· Who is your greatest inspiration?
My dad.
· What would you like the youth to take from your passion for the sports?
Discipline, respect and pride in what you do.
·What has this sport taught you off the field?
Be humble yet competitive and take your losses as well as you take your wins.
· What message would you like to give to our readers?
Have a passion and true love for the sport.
· Whom would you like to thank for your accolades?
I would like to thank Mukesh Soma, Zenobia Soma, my wife for being understanding and patient, the entire Real Madrid FC family and the Laudium Sun for this opportunity.
