Tributes continue to pour in for the late Ebrahim Ravat (85) of Raslouw (Ravats Carpets), who sadly passed away on Wednesday (March 9).
Maulana Aboobaker Chougley, told the Laudium Sun, “Uncle Ebrahim lived the Prophetic life of humbleness and piety. He shared his undivided time of prayers connecting to the spiritual upliftment of self reformation. I came to know Uncle Ebrahim in 1996. A year prior to our meeting, he donated a piece of land to the Raslouw community, where the Rasooli Centre is currently established. Uncle Ebrahim used to arrive early for every salaah and used to say, ‘I arrive early to get connected to Allah so that when salaah begins, I am already in the zone of the connection with Allah.‘ He also used to say ‘Let not the frustration of the world disturb your appearance before Allah.’ “
Haroon Gooma added, “Ebrahim was a great human being with a beautiful soul, May Allah grant him highest honors in Jannat.”
Ismail Kalla said, “Our dearest brother Ebrahim Ravat has taken his Eternal Journey Home. Almighty Allah has called for him. Let us all pray for him. “We express our deepest condolences to his wife Majida and his children. We pray Almighty Allah bless them all with the strength to bear the loss of the pillar of the family. Ebrahim was a regular musallie, for over twenty years at the Rasooli Mosque. He always sat at the back of the Masjid, reading the Noble Quran for about 45 minutes before Maghrib Salaah. He would call us and direct our attention to certain verses. He always said ‘I can’t understand why we neglect this most powerful Book of Guidance.’ Ebrahim was a pious man with a distinguished upright character, a soft spoken gentleman of note, always making salaams with a smile and lots of love. He had a colorful and charismatic personality. He not only sold carpets to the Afrikaners, but made Dawah among them. Hundreds reverted to Islam and Majida (wife) would follow up.”
Dr Abie Joosub added, “What an exemplary person Ebrahim was. Always smiling and making whoever he met feel like there’s no other great friend like them. He elevated all he met to the closeness of his heart. May ALMIGHTY ALLAH grant him Jannatul Firdous Inshallah.”
Dr Madni said, “My association with Ebrahim goes a long way since childhood. He lived next to Farouk and Haroon Moosa Osman. His wife Majida, (Pik Botha’s daughter) is a good story teller and I cannot forget her laugh. Their 2 children Maryam and Ahmed, whom I treated from birth, are named after his parents. Ebrahim was the gentlest of beings that I ever came across.”
The Laudium Sun extends condolences to the family of Ebrahim Bhai, who we had the pleasure of meeting a number of times. He was indeed a humble and gentle soul. May the Almighty grant him Jannatul Firdous.
