· Tell us a little about yourself.
I was born in Marabastad. I started school at P.S. Fourie, in Eersterust. Then when the segregation laws were implemented, we were moved to Laudium in 1966. I attended Andrew Anthony Primary School from Standard 2, then went on to Laudium High School.
· Tell us a little about your family.
I was married to Sandra Simmons-Naidoo. From this marriage, there was only one child born. Her name is Lee-Anne Naidoo. We have two grandchildren; Revaan and Lee-Anndra. I also have two great-grandchildren; Simeya and Shelezaan.
· Tell us about your sporting career history.
I started playing soccer in the streets of Laudium and it just progressed from there. I played for Swaraj, Delfos and finally, Laudium Aces.
· How many years in the sporting field?
±40 years.
· For all our readers, please tell us what attracted you to this sport?
We were a bunch of naughty boys. Then, Danny Dorasamy took us off the streets to play for him.
· What was your favourite victory and proudest moment?
In 1983, we won the K.O Champion League with Aces. I stood as goalie and saved some brilliant shots, which earned me the nickname, ‘The Weapon’.
· How did you develop your skill?
By playing with my friends in school, in the streets and at the stadium.
· Who is your greatest inspiration?
My dad Gani Naidoo, my brothers, my friend Danny Dorasamy, Uncle Nethia (Dick), Booie Mooloo and the Diar brothers.
· What would you like the youth to take from your passion for the sports?
Take up sports for a hobby, it will keep you off the streets and out of trouble.
·What has this sport taught you off the field?
To be patient and to respect other people in all walks of life.
· What message would you like to give to our readers?
Encourage the youth to take up any sport as a hobby. It will occupy their mind and steer them in the right direction.
· Whom would you like to thank for your accolades?
I thank the Lord for everything He has done for me. Also my family, Danny Dorasamy and my best friend, Vishnoo Padayachy, not forgetting the Laudium Sun.
